Lecture and Seminar 4

Today's lecture was on 'Managing Business and its environments' and it was particularly interesting. During this lecture, we learnt about the impact of digital communication, the digital commerce environment and various business digital models. I learnt quite a few things that I can utilise in my coursework. In the seminar, we did a case study in which we explored and applied the Lookup Vlookup functions in excel. Furthermore to this, we did an in depth analysis of the business case with my group and we found that we would focus on 3 major problems within Emily's business. The main problems we found were that her marketing lacked attention, the HR/Legal components were not quite organised and likewise with her accounting for her business.

Lecture and Seminar 3

Today's lecture was quite different in comparison to our usual lectures but it was nonetheless interesting. We had two guest speakers. The first guest speaker was a member of staff from the academic regulations team and he briefly spoke to us about the rules, regulations and potential consequences of any form of misconduct in an exam or coursework. Personally, I found this extremely essential as it helped me to understand the do's and dont's about examinations and cleared any questions I may have had in regards to what is acceptable and not acceptable. The second guest speaker was a women called Emily, who runs her own business called 'Bizzie bodies' and she gave a presentation on her business, this was vital as the first half of our coursework is based on this business idea. Overall, it was a good presentation and I really understood the basics of her business and I am excited to go on and analyse it further. Finally, Haider presented our lecture on Infrastructure ...

Lecture and Seminar 2

Today's lecture was about 'Business models and strategies in a digital world', I found this lecture quite interesting as I learned new things such as business organisation features, Mintzbergs 5 types of organisational structure, different levels (managerial and executive) and competitive forces. In the seminar we did a task on 'Susie's Music Shop' in which we had to prepare a cash flow budget for a six month time period on excel, this task was quite challenging as I am not an avid user of excel, however I learnt some new things such as how to use appropriate functions etc. We also started a case study and we have to complete it for homework. During this seminar, we also got into groups for our coursework, my team members are Lisa, Nana, Tea and phan, they all seem really nice.

Lecture and Seminar 1

Today was my first Management and Information systems lecture, it was quite interesting. Firstly, we were introduced to the Lecturer (Bilal Haider) and then he explained the basic rules of attending his lecture. This was then followed by a thorough look through the Management and Information systems module guide booklet, I found this really helpful as it enabled me to grasp a better and in depth understanding of this module as prior to attending this lecture I had no idea about what it was. Another reason why I found it quite helpful was probably because the lecturer told us about the different exam criteria that was involved in this module and exactly how it was weighted out. Essentially, this was absolutely vital as it really helped me gain a better understanding about the coursework element in our module. During the seminar, we were introduced to our seminar tutor, Susie who is really nice and we investigated a case study. We then created a blogger account to start our blogs on fo...
